Running for fighters

You often hear different opinions on how running should be handled for fighters. Some say long distance running isnt good. Im looking to intensify my overall training and really have no idea how I should value running, all the different opinions dont make it easier.

What are you peoples opinions?

Run everyday. Even on your off day(s) have an easy run. Do intervals 2-3 times a week.

Is this what you do?

What distance do you normally run? In your opinion, what is an easy run?

My normal run is 3-5 miles a day. 3 when im weak/tired or doing a lot of other stuff.. 5 when Ive got nothing on my plate etc.

I dont do intervals with a stopwatch or scientifically. On days I want to do intervals I warm up, sprint hard for 30-45 seconds and then go back to my normal running pace as long as needed to recover. Ideally no more then 2 minutes. Again without a watch, no hard numbers. I try (and succeed!!) to be gassed after at most 20 minutes.

Other posters here probably have more standard advice and or links.

One thing I would suggest is to not even attempt intervals until running 3 miles in 30 minutes isnt something you have to struggle to do.

I run sprints 3 times a week and do a hard 3 mile run once a week. This is on top of training 4 days a week.

I'm about to go run in about 10mins. I'm going to run a half mile, rest 1min, then do 2 5min rounds of 50yard sprints (run 50 yards, rest 15secs, and repeat for 5mins) then run another half mile.

I need to start running more, at least 2x's per week. I do other types of conditioning, more gpp stuff like burpees, mountain climbers, ect.

Now... I'm not a fighter, but I train like one.

I do tabata sprints three times a week(20 second sprint, 10 second rest, 8 sets). One of the three sprint days if a hill sprint day. As well as a 5 minute warm up jog before hand, and directly after a 5 minute cool down jog. I live by this.

Also, I throw in a 3-5 mile hard run once a week also, like was said above. What a coincidence.

I do recommend doing some type of running 6 days of the week, whether its long distance jogging or running. Some mornings I will just go out for a 1-2 mile easy jog to break a decent sweat to wake my body/metabolism up.

How do you time your intervals? I find most watches / timers aren't loud enough, so I'm constantly having to look down to see if I should stop or not.

And I refuse to bring an egg timer with me to train
