Running after Dinner

Anyone do this? When I was training boxing a few years back, my trainer, always made me run after dinner.. So every evening after dinner I would run.. I was a bit younger and didnt know too much about nutrition/fitness and basically just listened to every word he said.. I have been wanting to try running after dinner again, but it doesnt fit into my schedule and I always feel lazy after eating and just want to chill.. I normlly run when I lift, before dinner..

This afternoon I had my girl come pick me up and take me to lunch about a mile up the street and I would run home after.. Well, even thought I wasnt dressed in my usual gym garb, and it was 90+ degrees it felt pretty fuckin good.. It felt like I churned up all that sushi.. Im thinking about getting back on the running after dinner routine.. Does anyone here do that? or been told to do that by trainers?

Depends on what kind of running you're talking about. Generally in distance running eating will slow you down during the first twenty minutes or so, but later in the run when the food is digested you'll have more energy.

However, I wouldn't want to do any serious sprinting or anaerobic work with anything in my belly - in fact I always make sure to brush my teeth and use mouthwash to get any taste of food out of my mouth before I run. Nothing like burping up that mackerel dinner to throw you off your interval timing.

Hah.. I think I had nice some spicy tuna burps when I got home.. It was like eating it twice.. yummy..

Im talking about distance / road work.. Not sprints or anything like that..

And I guess what I am really getting at is not if it will help me run further or not, but more along the lines is it better for overal fighter / fitness training? Maybe its an old boxers opinion/trick to better utilize your dinner or something like that.. Something like less of that fat maybe will stick around and gets used up immediately or something like that.. Scientifically it doesnt seem like it should make any difference, but I really have no idea thats why I am asking..

I once left dinner a bit late and went on my late night (mad) run.
I had stitches and felt like I was going to vomit and pass out at the same time

Then again, it was proper stodgey food and I eat a lot
