But are they 1000$ great, I have the money to put down but I dont know if I can justify buying the concept rower when I can get a normal one one for 200 bucks.

I've never heard anything bad about concept rowers. Whenever someone talks about how great their rowing machine is, it's ALWAYS a concept rower.

Can you check out both at a fitness store and get some input from someone working there?

All of the places I know of close by don't have any rowing models out to try, and the few times I have gone in the people are barely intelligent enough to wipe there own ass. Went in to buy some 25 lb. plates at my local sportmart and I actually got asked if there was a difference between the black standard plates and grey ones, I looked at the guy and told him one was black the other was grey..... seriously how dense can you be.

Well, for what's it's worth I've yet to hear from someone who regretted spending money on a concept. If you've got the cash then I say go for it.

I recently started using them at my gym and I can't believe what a great lower back workout you get . . . in addition to some good cardio.

The concept 2 rowing machines r rly the only rowers any gyms use and they are the ones that are used in competitions. What are your 2km times ?

After your forearms adapt to the searing pain from the prolonged gripping, rowing machines I think are pretty damn good for aerobic work and anaerobic work (but that is pain when you HIIT it).

My 8k time is around 30 min on level 8 of the concept 2, so thats 2 min per 500m
