I bought a similar piece called the Endless Rope
Endless Rope by Axios and every fighter I train uses it. You shouldn't really compare it to climbing rope, it is it's own exercise. It offers some of the benefits of regular rope climbing and it also has some advantages such as variable resistance and measurement of how far you've climbed, your speed, etc. It's simply impossible to do the speed pulling type work just climbing a regular rope. Of course climing a regular rope has advantages over a rope pulling machine too so like I said, they shouldn't be compared as an either or type of thing, they both have their place and are useful in training but overall the rope climbing machines are more versatile and have more application in sports performance.
