Right Foods to Eat?

I'm planning on starting my training/diet this sunday. I'm currently around 175 lbs. im trying to get to welter weight status. What type of foods should I eat to cut weight while still being able to keep up with MMA?

Lay off of foods high in sodium, as salt retains water.

More protein, less carbs. (no, don't cut them out like atkins style but reduce them a bit) Drink lots of water, stop eating carbs after 6:30 PM. Eat good carbs like wheat pasta & oatmeal and not shitty carbs like ones derived from sugar. Get a full nights sleep.

While i necissarily don't reccomend this, but i find that drinking more black coffee helps.

Water?

I know they say Drink lots of water, but what is the science behind drinking more water when you're not that thirsty.

because when your thirsty your body is already dehydrated.
Obviously, don't pound water till your bloated, but the more water you drink, the better flushed out you are and the more energy your muscles will have.

water w/ or w/o lemon
brown rice
whole grain pasta
chicken
tuna and other fish
spanich / other veggies
apples and other fruit

these are the foods I try to eat a lot of... the list goes on and on... So far what has been posted is great advice.... I'd look into lowering your carb intake... limit your eatting to 4 meals a day without eatting inbetween... and 1 serving of every food.

My friend who went to basic training with me.... lost about 60 lbs in 9 weeks all from doing the 'army diet' (which is pretty much the above)

Its very hard to loose weight unless you exercise... exercise is the key.
