Recomendations: For my Weight, Conditioning, etc..?

Here it is, I'm 6'4 and I weigh in at 210.5 pounds. I'm not in great shape, but I'm definately not overweight. However, I would like to lose alot of that weight but at the same time build some muscle mass.

I would realisticly like to weight 185 pounds, but have the physique to go with it.

What do you guys think an ideal weight for being 6'4 would be?

Lastly, what kind of programs should I get on? I want to train, lose the weight, and become stronger, but I simply don't know where to look for guides. My knowledge would just tell me to lift weights and run(no duh, everyone knows that), but I have no guidance as to what specificly I need to do.

Thanks for your help!

Ideal weight for 6-4"? 225lbs-250lbs should be about right.

I definately don't wanna weight 225-250lbs.

If I'm going to start fighting, I want to know about what weight I should fight at. I was thinking somewhere around the 175-185 range.

I'm the same height I was in HS, but just 25lbs heavier.

175-185 is WAY to skinny imo. i would focus on staying about the same weight and getting as strong as possible.

185 isn't too bad, isn't Kendall about that?

Kinda depends on your body type and all that too. Also by fight do you mean MMA, or Muay Thai or what exactly?

Do you even train in any combat sports?

185 is kinda light. why don't you try fighting at 205.

Exactly, some people are suited to different weights even though they have the same height. So we really can't say what would be the best weight for you. Hell i'm about the same height as MacRea but 70lbs heavier, that doesn't mean i am overweight or he is underweight, we just have different builds.

It sounds like your just starting so best thing to do is get in the best shape you can, then worry about weight classes. If you feel your best shape perfomance wise is 200+ fight at 205, if your kicking ass at less then that go at 185. Work a style that will use your attributes properly, at 6'4" 185 your going to have a monster reach advantage.

I have some Boxing & Wrestling background.

When I think about it, I do think of myself of wanting to have a similar build to a Kendall Grove. I don't want to be a heavy weight, and I'd without a doubt prefer to be a MW.

So you guys think the best solution would be to start at stage one and get into tip top shape, and then worry about the weight and build from there?

I was thinking about hiring a personal trainer and nutritionist and telling them what my goal weight and cardio is and get down to that.

I have 2 friends who own a popular gym here in town and they're body builders & personal trainers(granted I don't want to be a body builder, but I think they could be a realiable edge).

I'm 210.5 like I said, but I'm not out of shape. However, I feel slower than I actually can be. In high school I was on the track team and I had great conditioning and had good speed as well.

By the way, I'm 21, so I feel I'm still very young and have alot of time ahead of me to look forward to.

Not a bad idea, esp. the nutritionist. Be sure to check King Kabukis' "Spotting a Fraudulent Trainer" thread. Make sure this guy can actually help you achieve your goals.

Also, this definitely bares mentioning:

Probably THE BEST site for combat conditioning. Look into Infinite Intensity. Proably less expensive than a Personal Trainer, and (likely) more effective.
