Ran my first 5k

So i ran my first 5k on sep 15th. It went pretty good, i ended up with a time of 21 mins and 37 seconds. Idk how the stacks up to you guys but i was pretty happy seeing how im not too good at running. Any of you guys getting ready for a 5k soon?

I'm running in the Under Armor Baltimore Marathon.

It'll be the longest I've ever run and I'm not at all ready for it yet.

I was gearing up for a fall marathon, (my usual routine), but achilles problems flared up so I'm dropping down to shorter distances, (which probably is stupid because shorter races require more speedwork which is hard on the achilles too). I have some fall cross country races coming up, (8Km of hell).

Anyway, that's a solid time for a first 5k. Keep at it and watch the times fall. Congrat's

I was thinking of doing a 5 or 10 km run for Terry Fox

That is a very good time for someone who doesnt run that much. Maybe you could go far if you took your running seriously

Run farther than 5k so 5k seems like a walk in the park.

There are plenty of training plans available on the net. http://running.about.com/od/5kplans/...nning_a_5k.htm

I've run <17 for a 5K.

My advice would be to jog 3-5 miles 3 times a week, do some sort of track workout once a week (8 X 400meters @ 100 seconds with 100 seconds rest or 5 X 800meters at 3:30 with equal rest, etc), and do one long run 6-10 miles once a week.

Over time, try to jog 5 days a week and at least 5 miles a day, get better at the track workouts and do more, longer intervals, and extend the long run to 12+ miles. It's not bad to run every day as long as you take EASY days between your workouts and long runs.

But the best thing for you is easy jogging + a track workout + a long run.
