I wish you success. You should be OK. I know a guy who decided a little later in life (middle of college) to join. He was literally a skinny little band nerd guy. Excellent percussionist. Anyway, he was faithful to his conditioning, and here we are, five years later, and he has done who knows how many missions.

Hope it goes well for you.

You say you're a good swimmer, but honestly, I doubt it, at least from the perspective of a former competitive swimmer. You wrestle, which corresponds nearly exactly with competitive swim season in US high schools. If you're really serious about this, I'd say don't wrestle your senior year, and instead join the swim team. You'll suck, but you'll also get much more comfortable swimming distances and managing your breathing. SEALs swim, *a lot* both in training and deployed, you'll never regret your year as a sucky competitive swimmer.

While we're at it, consider if you *really* want to be a SEAL. SEALs are deployed *a lot*; when I was in it was I think 85% sea/shore rotation for SEALs. Do you want to be married? Do you want kids? Not super compatible with the SEAL lifestyle.

I was watching SEAL training the other night on TV. I wouldn't last a day. That shit is absolutely ridiculously tough. I second what pittfrog said. I used to travel about 100 days a year and that was tough on the family. I also got paid a lot for it. From what I understand being in the military of any sort does not pay to much. On another note. If it is your dream, then by all means go for it. Just take into consideration some of the things people are pointing out. Good luck.

Having made the decision to do so i need to see if there are any good workouts or training advice for BUDS and other seal training. Im already doing a this workout The SEAL Quest ~ Ultimate BUD/S Preparation twice a week with battling ropes training 3 times a week, running long distances, and other high rep bodyweight calesthenics. Swimming right now is a no go there is nowwhere around for me to swim but i am a very good swimmer. I will have to wait until i get a job can drive into town and swim almost everyday or close to it. I am planning on dropping weight lifting after i finish my high school wrestling career (strength and conditioning is required for athletes) and focus fully on high rep bodyweight movements and no weights. If anyone has tried out for the SEALS, has any advice on workouts, or wants to wish luck you are welcome and please dont post this workout Navy Seal Workout It is a little tame for a athlete so i want more experienced workouts if you have them thanks for all the support in advance..
Impressive goal, good luck.

First off quitting wrestling for swimming is not going to happen i have a good chance to do well at state this year. I would rather swim everyday for 5-6 months then quit wrestling. After wrestling i will have a few months were i will be able to swim everyday which i will take advantage of. If i make the seals i plan on doing it for the 6 years and if i like it ill stay if i dont then i wont.

Thanks man that is another reason why im doing this i dont think i could ever be content with myself knowing i never pushed myself as hard as i really thought i could go. Im very confident i will make the SEALS but i wont to prove to myself that i can do it and go farther than i ever dreamed possible.

Hey, I made a thread as well a while ago when i decided to become a Navy SEAL. Basically I gave up everything that I love. Wrestling, football, power lifting, and held back the MMA. I am now doing Cross Country, Swimming, and still thinking about Gymnastics.

I hope my thread will help you a lot, even though I know it's not as great as what you got here. There's a few posts that made me think but not as much as yours. Good luck and train HARD.
