Push-up Challenge

So I'm taking a B.S. Fitness class to fulfill a requirement to get my degree. I swear the book they gave us is outdated, but there is a fitness test in it that I wanted to share.

1. Max push-ups in 1 minute.

ages 15-19: 35-44=Good, 45-53=Excellent, >53=Superior
ages 20-29: 34-43=Good, 44-52=Excellent, >52=Superior
ages 30-39: 25-34=Good, 35-44=Excellent, >44=Superior

2. Max sit-ups in 1 minute.

ages 17-29: 42-47=Good, 48-50=Excellent, >50=Superior
ages 30-39: 33-38=Good, 39-48=Excellent, >48=Superior

Notes:

Push-ups: must be performed through the full range of motion; all the way up (arms fully extended) and all the way down (chest no more than 3 inches from the ground).

Sit-ups: Feet must be held firmly on the ground. Arms crossed at all times. In the up position elbows must touch thighs, in the down position mid-back must touch floor.

Post your scores and let's see how we all did. I got 58 push-ups done in 40 seconds and squeezed out a final two in the last 20 (damn lactic acid). I also got 60 sit-ups even.

are you asking for a CHALLENGE@#$)

40 push-ups in 1 minute.

No where near good, by far, but I'll post again shortly with (hopefully) better results.

I haven't worked on push-ups for a while, I need to pick up again come beginning of school. Best I did with the APFT was 54.

Over 150 people have read this thread so far and only 3 could spare a minute or two to try the challenge?

Come on people, I know it's not the best test of fitness, but I thought I'd get more responses than that.

Not really that good of a test, and going all out on pushups can interfere with standard training schedules.

Actually, I may try this later this evening. Maybe this is just what I need to get working on pushups. I haven't done more than 25 at once since my shoulder surgery.

Im going to try again tonight, and get my buddy to give it a try.

I think its fun, dont see how two minutes of exercise can interfere with training?

I think it's fun too. I might re-try the challenge every week or so to see if I progress.

As for interfering with training, I don't really think it can. We do about 100 pushups everyday during Muay Thai practice and 200 or so in BJJ.
