Knowing what I know now, I was such an idiot in high school when cutting down to 145 lbs every week for wrestling. I was about 5'10'' and walked around at 154 lbs but the star of my school was at 152 so that was out of the question. I remember just eating tuna and broccoli in small portions and drinking minimal water a day or two before the match. Then afterwards we'd go to mcdonald's and eat about twelve 29 cent cheeseburgers. That was our weekly routine. Haha.

I'm lookin' to lose fat/cut weight for my first fight comin' up in a month. I'm about 200 right now. Aimin' to be at 185. Same day weigh-ins. Shouldn't be too hard at all. Just some hard work-outs and self-control.

Since ive started training its been hard for me to cut out unnecessary foods such as junk food and carbs. I started building a taste for grilled foods and vegitables after about half a year of eating them all the time. Now ive lost my sweet tooth and dont have those cravings anymore.

I only ever cut weight for one contest after that, and ended up just lifting in whatever class I happened to be in (I ended up lifting in the 275 class weighing in the mid-250s). For fights it's a non-issue, because I walk around at 250-260 so it would take some real science to get me down to 205 and I don't fight frequently enough to justify doing it. I do fight for NFC which has a 225 class but I'm too damn lazy and would rather just eat well and fight the big boys. My hat is off to anyone who does cut significant weight, though--sometimes I wonder how guys like Riggs can fight after dropping so much.
You sound like you need to just fight heavy, 205 would be crazy man.

If anyone thinks differently, post it and a discussion shull commence
While probably not important in weight cutting for a fight, flooding the system with high GI carbs after a period comparable to 'starvation', raises LEPTIN levels. Leptin is a hormone that has been shown to be directly proportional to the amount of weight one can lose. That's why people eating a serverely low-carb diet to lose weight typically plateau. If you remember Rich Franklin's all access, he said that he ate a strict 'clean diet' for 6-7 days and then went crazy and ate whatever he wanted, high gi carbs. This was to replace leptin levels.
