Prep program..

I have an opportunity to train with a good judo/wrestling coach.

He told me in the next month, for prep, do 600-1000 pushups, squats and sit-ups per day. As well as 3-4 mile run daily.

That seems like alot, but the guy is a champ and has nccp level 2 I believe.

What do you guys think? Heard this before? I am sure its for joints and endurance but seems like alot.

that does seem like a lot, I mean if you dont work or go to school or anything and just eat/sleep/train then I guess it could be possible..is he giving you any days off? or is it just like 30 days of nonstop training?

I think that there are better ways to train than doing 600 pushups/squats/situps per day. I'd do something like:

Monday: 5 max sets of pushups/situps/pullups + run 4x400m sprints.
Tuesday: rest
Wednesday: max rounds in 20 minutes of - 400m run, 40 pushups, 50 situps, 20 pullups.
Thursday: rest
Friday: 600 pushups/squats/situps throughout the day + 4 mile run
Saturday: rest
Sunday: rest

Its not so much time involved. I have been doing 300 of each thus far and thats only 40 minutes. So say as I get better, it may come to 1 hour or so and a 30 minute run at most. Say, 1.5-2 hours.

Its just the exercises themselves at those reps?
