Icon2 pinky toe blister and knee pressure

my right pinky toe is starting to form a blister from my shoes. does anyone have methods for dealing with this to stop the blister or whatever? i think i'll throw a bandaid on it but maybe others have better experience and a technique.

also, today was my 2nd day of running. the total distance was 3miles with 2.5 running and .5 for the cool-down walk home. right at the 2 miles mark i felt a little pressure on my left knee. it was like someone was poking me with reasonable pressure on the outside side of my left knee. there was no pain so i will relax now and see how it feels tomorrow. anyone have any thoughts?

i use my joints in grappling but i know running is a different bag all together. i was wearing decent shoes and i did 90% of the running on the earthy area beside the paved path i was following.

blisters can be a bitch, and as long as the knee thing is nothing, i might be enjoying this running crap. the miles i did went by faster than i remember when i used to run for wrestling n high school and that feels good enough to make me want to do more.

if anyone's out there thinking about it. grab a decent mp3 player and/or radio and as long as you have something to listen to, it aint so bad.

My knees usually get sore when i start running again, just not used to it and if you are a heavier guy it is alot of load on the joints even on grass. Just don't overdo the running right off the bat and it shouldn't be an issue.

The blister though, i usually drain them but my friend said its best to leave them so i'm not too sure whats best

i think i'm going to throw a bandaid on it and then tape over that. they can be a real bitch, but maybe some kook like chad or KK might have some voodoo for me.

I feel the pressure on me knee when i stand on the ball of my foot and much much less when flat footed. i'll see how it feels tomorrow. i skipped out (pun lol) on jumping rope tonight because of it but i dont see that as a huge loss. i will grapple on it tomorrow though,

variable terrain? how tight are your shoes? if you have loose shoes (and it sounds like you do) you need to get a new pair that won't slide laterally....variable terrain calls for thick socks, and a very snug pair of shoes, preferably one that is designed for your particular gait. Go to a running shop, they have equiptment that can tell you the type of shoe that will benefit your running style...,as for blisters...keep your feet dry..and use some athletic tape to prevent the blister from tearing....my personal favorties..dr sholls, hockey tape, and nike free 7..

good info. the shoes fit pretty well, but i guess not well enough. they're a pair of new balance a few years old (1-2). i probably should spring for some new running shoes. just damn, i cant go a day without something i need to buy.

new balance are good if you have a wide foot....go to a shop and have your feet measured...

Is there any snapping or popping in your knee, does it lock or click? It could be one of or a combination of several things ranging from you being a wuss to a potentially serious injury. I would recommend trying to stretch out your IT band prior to workouts and strengthening your VMO, because tight IT band and a weak VMO are a pretty typical cause of avoidable "injuries" at the knee caused by or exacerbated by running. Just a heads up though, when your knee feels stiff after sitting down for a while, that is called "theatre sign".
In my oppinion, icing your knees after a run is never a bad idea, especially if your knees are bothering you and you ice them the right way.

As for the blister, when you run, try putting something like vaseline on it to reduce the friction from rubbing, you can buy moleskin to put on it, which is like a really thick tape that should prevent any more rubbing/friction.

if feels liek the after effects of smacking my knee into something. not the pain, just the pressure and semi stiffness after. i just barely feel it today when i walk on the balls of my feet so i'm not worried. i'm just listening to my joints.

no snappy/poppy/crunchy sounds.. so i'm not all that worried.

my legs are sore, mainly calves but i'm going to guess that's from the uphill and sprinting. my legs are a lot weaker than they should be so i know where i need to be working.

I've been running for a few years now and have also experienced outside knee pain which can really suck. However it is usually due to increasing mileage too soon or from excessive hill runs. It used to bother me when I ran more than 6miles or so.. You mentioned it was just your second day w/ running so I'm not sure how much of an IT band issue it would be. Where is the pain and/or stiffness after you stopped ruunning? You should probably go to a reputable running store to get your gait checked out since you stated that your shoes are a couple years old. Are you flat footed at all? Also, always remeber RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) and take it easy for a little bit. Sounds like you're cardio is pretty decent since you grapple.. but it always takes a little time for your legs to adapt to running.
Blisters suck.. but it's just a part of running. Good fitting shoes and socks help prevent them.
