Overtraining

What are YOUR typical symptoms of overtraining? Personally I never really get the mood swings, lack of sleep, soreness etc.?

However I almost always end up catching a bad cold when I'm overtraining.

Soreness and my eating habits get bad for a day or two.

Plus I lose my drive.

After weeks of hard workouts, my elbows will get too sore. (so now I have adopted Ross's idea of taking a week of more relaxed training)

Besides that, after a lack of sleep and pushing too hard in workouts, that all adds up to making me feel run down and sick.

I usually get a day or two of nasty joint pain and then I get a horrible cold.

Last year I wanted to see how hard I could push myself so I lifted 6 days a week and went as hard as I could on the bike for 60-90 minutes EVERY day. I'm not talking about a light stroll, I mean I was fucking going as hard as I could, throwing in some intervals and all that. After a couple weeks of that, I got brutally ill with the flu.

Never anything serious. Somehow I haven't been ill (aside from the likes of creatine shits) in about ten years, and I've never gotten injured beyond a light wrist or neck tweak. Probably my only indicator of going too hard is mental burnout - I just stop caring for about week and pursue something else until the fire comes back. Oh and sometimes I get restless legs and want to pound them with a lumphammer just to kill that electric feeling in the muscles.

I hate that feeling of being exhausted and tired but not being able to sleep due to the jimmy legs.

The classic symptoms are mood changes, decrease in performance, change in resting heart rate. The ones you can check for in a lab have to do with hormonal and metabolic changes in response to exercise and recovery.
