overall conditioning question

Hi all, I'm a college student and have always been active and involved in sports. The past six months or so I have been intensely working out and lifting and I started to notice that the right side of my body now appears (and undoubtably is) stronger/bigger than the left.

So my question is: Is this normal? (I'd expect differences based on handedness and things) but at what point is bad and what can I do/should do to correct this? Can anyone recommend specific exercises?

Thanks.

to me the obvious answer would be to use free weights more and machines less, but what do i know?

It's normal to have one side stronger than the other. The way to improve on the differences is to do more isolateral dumbbell/ iso machine work (ie: hammer stregnth). Work each arm or leg or side independently to give it your full attention. It will take some time but you'll notice a difference for the better. Unfortunately, your strong side will always be alittle stronger. LAte

Really, what exercises do you do?
If you do squats and deadlifts this shouldn`t happen. Your weakest link will be the one worked the hardest and it will automatically adjust and get stronger.

I do squats (bar) and clean snatches with the bar as well. I think its because my right leg is my dominant leg, but this imbalance could also be due to (and yeah, i was primarily noticing it in my legs) having torn my left*edit* hamstring 3 times. I used to be a track athlete, but I'm only 5'6" so I gave it up after a couple of seasons.

Personally i suggest incorporating more dumbbell work in your routine, especially uni-lateral dumbell exercises like one arm clean and press, one arm snatchs, one arm squat to press, one arm bench etc.....
