Over doing it?

Well i have recently stepped by training up for muay thai, and i really enjoy it. However the past few days i have been training every day for 5 days.

I am really focused on improving my fitness as it is just appalling for someone who wants to fight and compete. So on days when i dont have training i have been doing some skipping and body weight exercises to improve my fitness. But my body is tired, i am getting alot fo sleep and eating pretty well, although fucking up at times; just had some crips (chips to u americans) and stopped because even the slight impact this may have on my fitness is not worth the couple of minutes pleasure.

But am i doing too much too soon? Or should i keep going and let my body adapt?

My fitness routines at home are not of great intensity, skipping, body weight exercises, and some shadow boxing (LIVER SHOT!). I am just wondering if i should take a couple of days off, as i know at times this can help you improve if you rest properly, or keep going for now and take a rest when i really need it?

I know i can keep going for today, and tomorrow, and straight through to Sunday, and feel that maybe that will be a better day to rest before the new week and when my body will really need rest where as now i am just worried about over doing it?

You should have at least 1-2 days of rest (5 straight days will burn out most). It is as easy as listening to your body. Not all of us can work-out like Randy Couture, if you are tired you are likely overtraining and you should ease off a little. Good luck with the Muay Thai.

Do you feel mentally tired? Lacking alertness? Depressed? If you're feeling that as well as physical tiredness it's probably time for some R&R.

I wouldn't beat myself up about a bag of crisps, and nor should you. Getting hung up about some Golden Wonder will probably have a more adverse affect on your training than the actual calorific load.

Take the weekend off and have a few drinks. Five days of training in a row is reward worthy!

Take weekens off or you'll burn out. Saturday do nothing at all, Sunday go swimming or mountain biking, but keep it low intensity.

Dont even think about your routine Saturday, let your mind think about something completely different to it can relax too. Then Sunday you can go plan your schedule and diet. Also, stay strict on your diet, no funk etc. If you spend a week without candy, chips, and soda then you'll lose any craving for them. Once you stop eating a ton of sugar, everything else becomes sweet because you can now taste the natural sugars in them.

I dont feel depressed, or lacking alertness but i do feel mentally tired at times.

Im just trying to be strict on my diet because i usually start to let it slack a bit so i want to have my diet sorted.

Thanks for the advice guys, going to rest till thursday and just let my body relax.

Yeah, just take a couple of days off. I usually go by how I feel during my workouts. I don't really judge overtraining by how I'm feeling during the day because sometimes I'm just bored and un-alert because my job/day is boring/uneventful.

Last night my HIIT session was unusually shitty and my legs gave out 2 minutes in, so I gutted through the workout but I'm gonna take today and tomorrow off.
