Outside Biking

Good cardio ?

I just recently bought a new bike and have been riding about 10+ miles ( give or take some miles ) almost every night and I'm just wondering if it is good cardio ?

I am doing to try and loss some body fat and get in some better shape and to build my legs alittle. Good or bad ?

Very good, aerobically at least. You'll find it hard to do anaerobic work on a bike unless you live in a hilly area. Generally I find my HR averages about 140-150 while pedalling, even on uneven dirt tracks, so a stationary bike is better for doing HIIT work.

Outside biking is by far the most enjoyable form of cardio, though. Get your ipod and hit a nice area, and you can go all day.

Yeah, that is what I like about it. It isn't boring, you can get a group of friends together go ride bikes for a couple of hours, get into some conversions and not even realize u just rode for 15 miles.

hills are your friend. Cardio...depends how you ride. If you joy ride....not really...if you ride hard...then yes...you'll benefit from it. You've got to get your heart rate up.
