new here

hey eveyrone
im new to sherdog
and kind of to MMA training period

im21, 200-206lbs right now and 5'7..id like to get down to 150-170 i think would be good for my height.

with my work schdule the gym by me offers really only BJJ or MT..im trying to decide which to go to the most and get into. I have taken a few classes of each, and while i enjoy BJJ, i enjoy striking, knees and kicing more..

so i guess my question is..can a short guy do kick boxing/boxing?...or am i doomed to get dominated by bigger guys with longer reaches if i ever want to compete?

I dunno if this is a shallow question, and maybe i should just train and get in better shape and not worry about my height?

thanks from a noob.
Ryan

Mike Tyson was short for a heavyweight and he used to fuck people up hardcore until he went insane.

This may be a better topic for the striking technique forum though...but you still got my expert input.

Don't worry about your height, as you train and get more experience you will find the right weightclass for you(if you begin to compete).

When you do begin to compete, your height will be a disadvantage but that is a long way off and not necessarily a deal breaker.
