Need Some Help / Insight / Opinions

Ok, I didn't know where to put this, so any mod that feels this needs to be moved, please do so.

In late July 2007, I was in a car accident. Fractured 3 vertebrae in my back, 3 in my neck and fractured my skull.

The problem is, I wanted to start training when I went back to school in September of that year. Needless to say, those dreams were...squashed.

Well, fast forward to today and I am finally working out again.

My question is: Do you think it would be feasible for me to start training when I go back to school in September? I'll be working out consistently January - April. This includes both cardio and weights.

Although my back and neck are "fully healed," there is still some chronic pain in my neck. The back feels fine. Obviously, the neck is the important one. Can't do much with a weak neck.

Would a gym rule me out immediately because of these injuries?

Would a doctor even let me consider training?

I know these are things I'd eventually and ultimately have to take up with the gym and doctors, but I am asking you guys your opinions.

What would you do?

Thanks boys

The best thing I could say and what I would do in that situation is talk to your doctor, maybe even go to a couple. If they say it's okay, then a gym should let you train.

Yeah, you definitely need to be going to a good sports doctor and getting their advice. The internet is not a good option for info on this one.

Also, make sure you are patient and resist the urge to train if you're doc says not to. Injuries that you sustain while younger can haunt you forever if you don't get them fixed properly first time. It's frustrating but will be better for you in the long run.
