Need help with a Basic fitness routine

Hey guys, I need some help, and hope someone can spare about 5 minutes o help me out. I want to start a very basic exercise/fitness routine, but need help deciding what muscles to exercise and what days, and what days i need to rest.

I figure I would like to work biceps, chest, abs and shoulders. I want to be able to exercise at home, with limited equipment (I have dumbells). If anyone could help me out, that would be great. Thanks so much

Lift heavy things, pull heavy things, push heavy things, and run around a lot climbing things and jumping onto things for intervals of time...

Seriously though, the FAQ is a great place to start, in either this or the S&P forum.

If you're just staring off and want to do a home workout. I recommend doing maybe a set of push ups and with the dumbells do rows and curls.

Then in about a month or so when you start getting stronger, do more reps and sets and take a day or so rest in between.

That's about as basic fitness as it gets.

read the FAQ's

but i also want to add my own spin. Alot of people who have never been involved in any fitness training make the mistake of going too hard to soon. For a smoker trying to quit, sometimes going cold turkey is the hardest way to quit. Same for someone trying to start working out. So many of my friends come in the gym, swear that they're going to get in great shape, do one monster workout and never return. You need to get in the habit of setting aside time in the week to workout. Just try and do 20 push ups and 20 sit ups 3 days a week. Once you get settled into the habit of working out, you can expand your workout slowly into something more involved, effective and time consuming.
