My GPP sucks.

So I'm in the middle of a pretty intense, shugyo-esque training "camp." I'm working out 5 days a week with the Bridgewater State wrestling team, and anyone who's been through a season of wrestling knows how hard those guys work.

Crappy thing is, I had a bad shoulder injury 3 weeks before Christmas, and was out for almost a full month unable to really do anything. Plus, I got the added bonus of gaining a good amount of bodyfat.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the practices, and I think my GPP has a lot to do with it. After a week of hard wrestling, I finish up the week with nagging pains and early symptoms of overtraining (irritability, fatigue, lack of motivation). I'm not a C.S.C.S. or anything, but it sounds to me like if my general fitness was up, my body would better adapt to the intensity and frequency of the training.

Problem is, I just don't have the time right now to stop training and focus strictly on my general fitness for 6 weeks. What can I do to improve my GPP while keeping up with training and avoid burning out/overtraining?

If the practices are so taxing, shouldnt they alone raise your GPP levels? I mean if your already is at your limits of your workcapacit it cant be good to add in more stuff and raise the workload... Or am I missing something?

Some form of lighter recovery sessions or something like that? Like easy lsd running far from your limits perhaps?... I dont know.

How long have you been feeling shitty?

In my experience, the first few weeks of getting back into shape really blows, and then you start cruising. You just have to make sure you're eating enough, getting enough sleep, etc. and you'll eventually turn the corner.

No doubt you'll want to die until you make it, but just hang tough.

I agree, if you are already pushing your body hard more work isn't going to help. My suggestion would be to focus on improving your recovery by dialing in your diet (eat clean and eat lots) and making sure you get lots of sleep. Some people like contrast showers though the effectiveness of them is debatable.
