they get their aerobic exercise from their training which is long and when not specifically going high intensity, almost entirely aerobic work...., duh and some fighters use supplement road work

My resting heart rate didn't get into the low 40s by way of magic.

No it's not. He comes off with nonsense every now and again, but not everything he says is crazy.

Boyle brings debate to the table and gets hammered for it. Everyone wants to "step out of the box" and go right into their own.

There is something to be said about getting your aerobic conditioning during the normal course of your BJJ class. If your HR stays in the right zone for 20-40- to whatever you want minutes then yes you are getting in your aerobic work. My BJJ class is up tempo but it still has too many slow spots. We spar a lot on the other hand so doing seperate HIIT overtrains me for the most part.

So Boyle thinks because you cant combine what you can do unilaterally on a squat to equal bilateral squat, he theorizes that low back is the limiting factor? Then with that glorious example of his math understanding, he brings statistics into play with validity and reliability. That's about the dumbest shit I have heard. Just shows that marketing and gimmicks can make you a successful coach.

Especially if you inherit extremely gifted athletes that someone else has built for you.

Exacly!!!
So many times people say "he must be right, he`s [insert fighter`s name] coach". But they don`t mention that the fighter in question was an extremely gifted athlete who had amazing conditioning and had even won a belt or 2 before he went to train with said coach in the last 2 months.
I don`t want to be too controversial but when a coach says "such and such fighter couldn`t do 8 BW pull-ups when he started training with me, even tho he was already a champ" it really makes you wonder about the value of the guys training methods as opposed to the fighter`s innate talent.

A good coach builds an athlete from zero or puts victories into a once losing athlete/team...
