Mike Boyle on Aerobic Training

Says there is no need for it, for any athlete other than runners.

I watched a video recently in which Boyle said some absolutely ridiculous things about squats. I mean, things that were so nonsensical I just couldn't believe I was actually hearing it. I'm not likely to put much faith in anything he says anytime soon.

People in endurance sports make fun of him for his ridiculous interval praising

People in SnP make fun of him for this

Boyle is an idiot. I'd just ignore it.

Every thing he says is absolutely idiotic. This guy`s supposed to be a pro coach or something?
I mean, who told him that aerobic-training is only LSD. And what`s this shit about "intervals" being superior to aerobic training? Because one can`t do aerobic intervals now?
And that`s just for starters.

its his gimmick. it makes people look in his direction. his theory/method is prolly better than the average athlete can come up with on their own so yes, they improve.

Didn't the bandwagon of HIIT-centrism disappear over the horizon sometime around 2007? At this point, this soft twat's views don't even warrant a facepalm.

Evidently he's training people in an alternate universe where time, and therefore the body's ability to maintain energy output while it passes, does not exist. Meanwhile us lower-dimensional beings have, like, 90-minute grappling sessions to work through, and LSD tends to help quite a bit with those.

not news. high intensity work is proven to yield big results. and obviously you should practice what you want to be good at. nobody got fast by moving slow. nobody got strong by lifting light. welcome to the last 10 years of athletic research. take off the leotard and put down the big hair.

"high intensity interval training" is just another way of saying "work really hard and take breaks so your heart doesn't explode"

So you agree with him that distance running has no place for anyone but distance runners?

no place is a very small place so no I wouldnt say that.

but fighters only have so many hours in the day and they prioritize a lot of training ahead of distance running. how many hours a week do you really think anderson silva and fedor and gsp and bj and brock really run.
