heres a tip , when you are running fully exhale all the air from your lungs. when your running as fast as you can and emptying your lungs completely without gasping or getting light-headed your running at an ideal pace for yourself and your body.

God knows why I feel inspired to run when I'm at my worse, but I do.

When I was having a break from fighting I would get pissed and for some reason felt the need to jog the 3 miles home because I was bored with walking. Go figure

Another tip, After running im sweaty as balls, and running in 90 degree heat is a bitch, but i have found if i take ice cold showers, i feel marvelous. If i would take a warm shower id fall asleep and be groggy. So i now learned to love a good cold shower.
I used to do weights in the am, go to MT in the pm, be finished and home by 10.30. Drop my stuff off and go for a short run.
When I came back, quick warm shower and just lying there afterwards, you no matter what can't stay awake

And some of you guys have the exact opposite results with running. I get pumped up before I run, usually watch a training HL before to get even more jacked
I used to listen to eminem 'lose yourself'

Seem to have lost it on my comp now god damn it

I don't like pump up music when running. It fucks up your pace. I just use the kind of music I'd be listening to if I were just hanging out reading or whatever. When you can treat running like just another part of the day, rather than something you need to get amped up for, that's when you get the best results and don't get bored with it.

Two ideas to hit the three mile mark.

1. What everyone is saying is true. Running outside is absolutely the way to go. I would go one further and say run when it's crowded. Seeing others doing and especially people who are older or look out of shape passing you will inspire you. Pace yourself, it's not a race.

2.You may not be up to it, but find a 5k (3.2 miles) and run it. All those runners whizzing past you in their 50's and 60's will really put into perspective how trivial the pain is. You will finish this and feel bad, but you WILL finish! I just completed my first mini-marathon this year and I started running to cut weight for BJJ, so you can do this, good luck!

If you plan on competing, chances are you're opponent is running. So you gotta do it too. Many fights were won on the road.

I completely agree, when i run outside i tend to be very erratic with my pacing, but when i run on a treadmill, i am not free to dictate the pace at any moment, i set goals for when i want to up my pace and I am able to quickly look at the time and set challenging goals, for anyone who gets bored with running, my only advice is to challenge yourself more and set realistic goals so it is a much more rewarding experience

true, but the more you run, the greater the pace you can sustain and you will naturally push yourself

If its such a big deal, stop watch, a known distance (ie a foot ball pitch) and away you go

I have some difficulty with the 6-10 minute and 17-22 minute and then from there I feel I can run forever.
