Med ball slams

Due to ridiculously cold weather for the last month or so I've been forced to do my training inside. So I was just wondering if med ball slams would be an adequate replacement for sledgehammer swings?

You may also be interested in a tornado ball, one way to make them is towards the bottom of this page: http://allaroundstrength.com/2007/05...medicine-ball/

They are a replacement, but a simpler version, IMO. Tabata med ball slams (30lb, at that) just don't have the same nausea factor as sledgehammer swings.

I love MB slams...and sledgehammer work.

For an additional challenge, try destabilized MB slams. Use a balance board or one of those whoopie cushion things under one of your feet and alternate back and forth. Use different foot positions, etc., to work more muscle groups and get a more functional workout. One-legged would be even more of a challenge!
