Lifting To Gain Mass, While Training For Fights..
I'm lifting right now to gain muscle mass and go up a weight division ( from light heavyweight 205 lbs to heavyweight ) but at the same time I'm trying to keep my speed of my punches and kicks.
Has anyone ever tried this before? Any advice on how to gain muscle mass and keep my speed will be great.
I walk around at 211 lbs but I want to jump up to 250-260 lbs and cut down/ rip myself down to 220-230.

Shouldn't this be in S&P? Read the S&P FAQ and repost the question there if you still have questions. Take out the ripping down phrase. If your workout consists of bench, curls and leg extensions: Ditch it.

Why do you want to gain 40lbs of fat just to have to take it off again? Bulking was the thing.....in the 80's.
Workout hard, eat right, do your speed work and everything will work itself out. It's going to take a long time to gain 20lbs of muscle so you can either accept your natural weight, stay in Lt HW, or get fat and hope it dosen't slow you down that much.

Why would anyone want to move UP a weight class? If during the course of smart/hard training you happen to gain 20 pounds (*cough* steroids) then so be it, fight at that weight, but intentionally moving up a weight class is beyond me. Oh ya, I have no advice either.

this is not a serious thread. no serious fighter would try to gain 40 lbs. this is a joke and a waste of time.
we are not a body building forum. go find one.

Hi. I'm ahab. I was a skinny weak weenie at 205. I've been to 255, currently at 235, and I have a very different opinion.
If you read my log from December of 2006 to Febuary of 2007 you'll see what I did to put on 17 lbs in 8 weeks. (not necessarily lean muscle, but the majority was).
