learning yoga from a book

I running low on money and can't afford to go to a yoga class very often so I was wondering if it is possible to get all the benifits of yoga by learning it from a book. Several people have told me that you need to go to a class to get the most out of yoga. Does anyone here practice yoga from a book?

Depends what you're actually looking for. if you're looking for the mental or bogus 'spiritual' aspect of yoga then I would say you need a class to force yourself to be focused. . .the soft lighting, the music, all of that to get you in the right state of mind. If you're mainly interested in the physical conditioning, you can easily do it at home.

Go to the library, theres usually DVD's you can get for free for a week.
But an instructor is always best, to correct what you can't see it wrong.

why would you do that? unless you're going to get hot girls in tight clothes to learn out of a book with you, then I can't say I see the point.
