Knee Injury

I never thought to post a thread about my injury until I was browsing this forum..

I will give you guys the video of when I hurt it even though it doesnt show much. Dont make fun of me as I've been training less than a year. They told me the night when I showed up that I would be fighting the champion....I'm the skinny guy...

YouTube - PBFL 2 Stearns vs. Shatswell

Now on to story I felt my knee go inward and couldnt stand on it, therefore they stopped the fight. It went on to swell massively and such. Unfortunately I couldnt get it checked out for about 4 months until I got insurance.. I got an mri and they told me both meniscus were torn and that they would just cut the tear out and be done. Well they get in there and I had torn the PCL but it had already healed. I tore HALF my acl, which the doctor told me he says maybe 1 or 2 every couple years. So one of the bands was torn while the other was not. Well now about 3 weeks out and I don't have all of my motion back but I've been biking and a bit of weight lifting trying to build strength. I was just curious if anyone had such an injury before and what I should expect on rehab, etc.. The doctor hasnt really been that great imo, all he told me was when I start doing sports to only do them for a short amount of time because fatigue would be a big factor in injuring it again. So basically I'm running around with a half acl and hoping I survive. He didn't tell me anything about a brace or anything. I'm not looking for your guys opinion instead of the doctor's as I am going to call him to get some more info, just have been lazy. Just looking to get all the information I can.

Thanks guys

At a minimum you should be working with a physical therapist.

Hats off for going against a champ. I am not sure how champs have non-title fights. Anytime they fight the title needs to be there.

ya... when my guy didnt show up for weigh-ins and they told me not to worry about making 170 i took a few drinks. thats why i weighed in at 172.. he came in at like 175.. obviously 170 was the goal. i'm guessing they had something planned at that point.. i got a buddy who's brother is a PT at a orthopaedic doctor's office. i'll give my buddy a ring.

All I can tell you is don't play around with a knee injury. I had to have surgery last year when the lower portion of my knee shattered. It took me a while to actually heal so I could walk without a leg brace. But I rehabed myself and was walking on my own in 3 months compared to the 6 months to a year the doctor told me. Just pace yourself and don't over do it. Biking is a good exercise to get some mobility in the knee without having to strain yourself too much. Just let it heal and don't rush.
