Knee injury!!??

Hi guys, i have a quick question. Wanted to know if anyone else has experienced something like this, or could add some insight.

Recently i started back training MMA after a long, long layoff (had back surgery). On last Wed. we did a warm up that consisted of balancing on one foot and lowering down while leaning forward to a full squat and then extending back up.

They were a little tough as my legs resemble that of a chicken lately. Anyways i didn't really feel any negative effects beyond the fact that they were tough as hell!!

The next day (thur) i took off because my left knee was a little soar, nothing big though and went back to the gym on Fri. My knee was still alittle sore, but i went thru class and everything was fine. We worked on takedowns and of course my knee was sore, but nothing crazy.

Then on Sat. My knee started getting a little worse, sore to the touch just above the knee, kinda under the knee cap and slowly seemed to get worse over the weekend. I tried to take it easy all weekend and stay off it, but it just slowly got more sore and now its killing me!!!!! Tough to walk on, hurts to bend and whenever it is "dangling" like getting into my truck, with all the weight of the leg hanging it f=cking kills!!!!!

Wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this before, sorry for the long post.

My instinct is to say go to the dr...If you have insurance get it looked at...if you dont have insurance post it up and I'll talk to some of my nurse friends about what your problem may be...

similar situation here and now that its been over two months and i look back at it, my knee was hurt after i tried the one legged squat as well, although i didn't first detect pain till a day or two later so that might not have really been the cause.

it started out feeling like just a little "tweak" in the knee. it never buckled or anything but i just felt a weird feeling under the kneecap. stayed that way for about 5 days, i did very light training on it, all standup and no kicks during that time. pain didn't go away so i went to the doctor. no ligament damage detected. he said continue resting it and come back in a week to see him.

5 days goes by and it gets worse, way worse. my knee really tightened up. doc says probably tendonitis and maybe chondromalicia, the pain i had under the kneecap. anyway, did PT, rest, ice, etc and it got better and then relapse again over next couple weeks. because of relapse doc orders MRI. MRI confirms his initial diagnosis that there is no damage to ligaments.

anyway, its 2 months 3 weeks now and i still can't train. i would say that 85-90% of the tightness is gone, but i still have these flare ups depending on the activity, or lack of too. sometimes it swells and stiffens when i'm walking around, other times it does when i'm sitting in a position for too long. couple weeks back i ask him to prescribe massage to maybe help loosen the calf, quad and hamstring muscles. it seemed to have helped, but the last 2 days my knees been bugging more than it has been for the last 3 weeks or so.

this is the most frustrating injury i've ever had. i've totally taken care of it and it just won't get better. plus we don't even really know what caused it in the first place. what concerns me most, and i am going to reiterate with the doc tomorrow, is the constant swelling in my knee, especially the back of it, and also sometimes in my upper leg. granted its pretty light swelling, but it shouldn't always be that way.

i know this probably doesn't help your situation, but we had a lot of the same symptoms. basically this was a long way of saying to go to the doctor. knee injuries are nothing to mess with and you should find out as much as you can.
