Knee conditioning

So i have been out of grappling for a while. Had a few MMA classes but nothing extensive.

Hopefully in the new year, i will be starting to go to a BJJ class. I have been before but when i went, my knees got bashed up real bad. nasty bruises that lasted for ages. The problems with that is, i had to stop training while the bruises went or they just got worse and worse until i couldn't kneel at all.

Is the anything i can do in this timn before i go to help condition my knees? against the bruises and matt burn if at all possible.

Thanks

funny you say that, i get bruised mainly from sprawls, being in their guard and side mount. Being on your back in fine, knees don't touch the floor.

what kind of mats are you on anyways and how hard were they? i've done jui jitsu back then and my knees were fine even though the mats were old and still hard like before, everyone's different though, some bruise up easier and heals slower than others, hmm..you can try getting used to working w/ the bruises but that might take awhile
