Training with tendonitis

I have a bad case of Tendonitis in my left elbow. Its been flaring up from time to time for about 2 months.

Any fighters out there experience this and what did you do to keep in it while trying to recover??

Can't much of anything with the left arm with out it acting up. Anti -inflammatory drugs help a bit but I cannot seem to do anything

I can jab and hookfor maybe 1 round before its completely dead and as for hold the pads for other forget about it

Bench press, curls and rows are out of the question

I am not a fighter but I my right elbow is as bad as your left.

Ice and massage are both big helps to me.

Of course the best thing is rest, but that may not be an option for you.

Ya the best thing you can do is rest. Here is a link to a website that may help you out.

Tendonitis Treatment | How to Treat Tendonitis - iTendonitis.com

Also, i m not a fighter. But i like to train alot. I keep a cooler full of ice water to help out with aches and pains after training.(i almost bathe in it for a few minutes) As far as training goes. You can still train without the left. My advice would be to get a sling to put it in, and do your cardio without being worried about the left arm.

Consistent hard massages to all the muscles surrounding the joint from your wrist to your shoulder with hard direct and focused pressure.

you should find some very tender/sore spots in some muscles. Maybe even some knots. Target these areas. might be gone.

I had tendinitis in my ankle for over 6 months and it was caused by muscle knots along the outside of my leg below my knee. It took something like 10 massages to fix. The muscle knots/tight tissue will keep the muscles that connect to the joint tight which strain the joint.

consider a sling if you are just hanging around the house. It will insure that you do not use it (rest) and the slight bend will help it heal properly.

Ice, mild massage also not bad.

tendinitis in your elbow??? when you hold out your arm palm up is it the inside or outside of your elbow that has the tendinitis. makes a difference it what you can do since both are different sites of attachment for completely different muscle groups.

regardless, any type of tendinitis is due to overuse... rest, plain and simple. if it is bad as it sounds, go see a physical therapist. if your state doesn't allow direct access, see a physician to refer you to a therapist.

i get this from pad work once in a while, usually happens if the person holding pads for you is significantly weaker than you or just doesnt know what they are doing.

an elbow brace, or some athletic tape around the largest part of your forearm underneath the elbow will help.
