Jumping/hopping????

I had a hard time trying to put together the best way to ask this so here goes...
I noticed when doing burpees for instance (among other workouts) the "jumping/hopping" part is the hardest. I cant seem to understand why. Why is something simple as jumping 1-2 feet off the ground so rough on your body (cardio wise)? Im sure theres an easy answer and Im just not thinking about it. THANKS AGAIN GUYS.

Im not too sure about the science specs of it but any exercise where you use your legs to push your body, is very exhausting and gets your heart rate up fast. Have you ever run up alot of stairs and see how out of breath you are? Burpees are killers man but I love them. Who was it that mentioned doing burpees with the ab roller? Thats a great killer workout.

Fighting gravity = hard

The worse shape you're in, the harder it is - that's why you do that part and not just a little jogging in place.

Ever compare jumping rope (leaving the ground with both feet every time) vs skipping rope (trad. boxing style rope work)? Jumping is way harder on joints, muscles, and cardio.

Fuck you very much, now I'm going to have to try burpees with a rollout on a barbell. I really hate it when you guys come up with better ways to torture myself.

Better equation than mine, but more complex.

I give it 8.5 out of 10.
