Jogging on Toes?

I've been thinking. Would it be beneficial to jog on my toes/balls of my feet?? I think this would be similar to jumping rope, and would grant the same benefits. I don't really do any jumprope becuase I don't have the room, and totally suck at it. Figure this could be a decent replacement. Thoughts?? Would this create any joint problems that you can think of?

It's probably ill advised to run in an unnatural way, at least for any significant distance. You're on your toes anyway when you sprint, and trotting like a ponce at slower speeds is probably just going to make your back ache.

There are all kinds of ways to work your calves - just bounce on your toes, bounce on one foot, make a line on the ground and speed jump back and forth over it, etc.

Efficient running involves you foot striking the ground around your midstep/ball of the foot region. Landing on your heals slows you down and it takes more energy to overcome the stopping force created. There are tons of articles online about how to run better/more efficient. Google it.

Jumping rope is something you should really learn to love. If you arn't good at it, you haven't done it enough. I'm sure you can find room somewhere.

Running on your toes may be a bit much. Try the method I described above first. You speed and endurance will improve and it may give you the some of the other benefits you're looking for. Good luck
