Jogging distance

I recently started jogging to improve my cardio, and because I have started to put some weight since I hardly did any exercise since Summer. So, what's a good running distance? I'm currently running 4,5 km (more or less) on hilly terrain (with lots of ups and downs).

When you get tired but not too tired?

This is kind of a dumb question.

Intervals might be better for you.

Read the FAQ?

Yeah, I read it a bit but found nothing specific on what I'm asking, I'm not training for fighting or anything, just wondering what's a good distance to keep in reasonable shape.
