No shit right it looks like a little girl with wet noodles for arms swung it that was weak but as for the type of training I start with a bucket of sand then move to a bucket of sand and water then over to a wood beam then a bick then finish with a smooth piece of solid steel each one should be hit about 100 times full force if you cant hit the steel raw then use a cloth on top as for the sand /water mix it should be just wet enough to feel like wood but grabs your hand alittle and hold when you pull it back
