Being no stranger to muscle soreness, I was wondering what the posters in the Conditioning Board used to contain muscle soreness or to altogether alleviate or relieve pain. Personally, I use Tiger Balm white and Bio-Freeze. What do you use? Bengay? Icy-Hot? Deep Heat? Flexpower? A limited, regional, or ethnic product that most would be unfamiliar with? Part-in-parcel, I created this thread because I am looking for a new product--Tiger Balm does not work well for me anymore as is the same with Bio-Freeze. Also, I wanted to wait on using the Tiger Balm red because that stuff is simply sinister, as well as close to napalm in chemical structure I am sure. Anyway, I was just wondering and I hope to hear what you have to say. Thanks a lot!

Hmm I dont really know. I have been using bio-freeze my whole life. My Grandma swears by it and I kind of grew up with it. It has never stopped working for me.

Traumeel. It's a bit different than tiger balm and such, because it's a blend of different herbs that help treat inflammation rather than a bunch of menthol and camphor. It's not something you'll feel.

I also sometimes use capsacin. Apply it with gloves and than rub ice on the area. That works great, but it isn't realy fun. And don't touch anything until you've washed your hands thoroughly after.

Agreed. Bio-freeze is for the most part now my go-to sportscream. Good stuff.

I have never heard of traumeel, but I will have to investigate it...it sounds effective. I have heard of people using capsaicin. But, it sounds alarming lol.

Rest seems to be the biggest part of easing muscle pain.

Capsaicin? As in the stuff pepper spray's made from? No, thanks, at least if it's anything even remotely similar to the spray. That stuff is straight from Satan's saliva.

I just use plain old IcyHot.

I don't think rest has much effect on muscle soreness. Go squat for an hour or two and then 'rest' by taking a long nap...you will probably be in worse shape than before.

ACTIVE REST is what you need. You probably have been training long enough to know when the worst onset of doms occurs. For me it's usually 30-36 hours after a session. That's when you should do lightweight/bodyweight movements or circuits to get blood flowing through the damaged areas. Legs sore...take brisk walk. Upper body...dynamic stretches, pushups etc...

Also, your postworkout meal has an effect on muscle soreness, too.

And most importantly,if you foam rolled after your sessions it would greatly decrease your muscles soreness, and you wouldn't have to use any of that shit ever again.

I'm 42 and probably as prone to muscles soreness/stiffness as anyone else on this forum...and when I don't foam roll the difference is extremely noticeable.

Ive always used deepheat when neccessary but i find prevention is the best way. I finish my workouts with a swim, a good soak in the jacuzzi, steam or sauna and then a soak in plunge tank or ice bath if you have any of that available. It works for me
