I have a 100lbs heavy bag and an empty room... suggestions?

While much of my focus is on strength training, it has become painfully aware to me that I need work on my conditioning.

Since it is bitterly cold outside and my time in the gym is pretty much devoted to lifting, I was hoping you guys could give me some suggetions as to what I could do in my room.

I have: 1 Heavy Bag (Not mounted)
Alot of empty space
Misc. Tension Bands

P.S: I tried bag clean and presses, but my ceiling is too low to do it properly.

Thanks in advance guys/gals!

1. Mount it
2. Get Bas' MMA Workout
3. Hit the bag

You plan on mounting it or keeping it on the ground?

I second the mounting it and getting Bas workout cd's, they are great for cardio.

Unmounted:
Ground and pound.
Shouldering
  • - Bag on floor, between legs, up and over or
  • - Bag standing, shoot and shoulder.
Slam it.
Hop/Burpee/Sprawl Overs.
Guard + elbows.
BJJ Transitions (Side control, North South etc.)
This One

Mark Hatmaker has a DVD- Floor Bag Workouts. You'll find more stuff there.

+1 Great Advice! Why is it you can always tell the serious guy right away from one answer? lol

Thanks for the help guys. The bag will be unmounted, as I had actually broken a stud in my basement hitting it before.

Thus far, I have been doing some of the stuff mentioned by Dan. I will definately be looking into the DVD by Mark Hatmaker.

Lay the bag on the ground and stand at one end

Squat down and pick up the end of the bag

Explode up and flip the bag over

Run to the end that is now far from you

Repeat for reps or time
