hundreds. conditioning?

hey there!
just started a new strength workout found in a uk mma magazine the idea behind this is to complete 1400 reps in total by doing 14 different exercises broken down into 1 pull exercise followed by a push exercise, you alternate between pull then push upper body then repeat lower body, anyone used this before? i believe its a training regime used by dan henderson.

i will post how i do with this. anyone already using this type of training?

i had posted this in strength furum but the more i think the more i feel its more suited to here..

ian, in response to the post in the strength forum, i am monitoring progress on a number of levels, firstly i monitor the time taken to complete the full curcuit, that is the main indicator, heart rate is also monitored and recorded at start of workout and after each 100 reps, the weight is incresed progressively, the idea being to complete 100 reps you should need to take a 30 break at around 70 reps, if you cant get to 70 without a break the wieght is too high, if you can complete more than that without breaking the weight is too low.

Can you list the exercises you're doing.

This does sound like a LSD version of barbell complexes

So it's mostly machine assisted work?

Working isolated stuff like leg extensions and calf raises for conditioning doesn't seem like a good idea.
How about you use burpees, squats, squat-presses, abwheel rollouts, russian twists, dips, pullups and all the good stuff like that?

Assuming they are all available in the order you need them

Put barbell complexes into google and see what it spits out.

Its pretty much everything on 1 barbell and you do a variety of sets and reps per exercise. You don't ever put the barbell down, but you do tend to do rounds of 3-5 minutes with a given weight and when you can complete say 2 cycles through 6 exercises in a 3 minute period for 4 rounds, you bump up the weight.

It's more focused to people who have to be explosive and maintain a high level of muscular conditioning for rounds.

I think a barbel complex, kettlebell work or a bodyweight circuit ala crossfit or RossTraining would fuck that up.

Sure I dont doubt it is hard work. So is taking a heavy ass sandbag and manhandling it for 20 minutes or lifting heavy stones or the things I mentioned first...
