God I miss those days and that was only 6 months back. 8am is BS. Period.
I sleep 6-7 but I need closer to 8 and hardly ever get it.

I was reading a men's health magazine and according to a the study in there it's recommended that you get at least 7 hours of sleep. Personally, I need more because I'm out of shape and need the rest, but I am working on getting it down 8 hours for now and hopefully in a couple of months it will be down to the 7. My dad (former usmc and taught rotc at usc) gets about 3-5 hours of sleep a night and runs pretty normally off of that.

Medically speaking you should get 7-8 hours of sleep. More or less is bad for you.

Fixed... Honestly, imo, it sounds like you are over training. If you are busting ass everyday, lifting heavy for so many hours that you cannot live your personal life, you are either really really busy, or are over training. A training session should last no longer than an hour unless you are doing long cardio work. Either way, it's still over training.

I'm not sure what that has to do with sleep? I usually only work out for 30 to an hour. Unless it jiu jitsu then it's an hour and a half.
Either way, one should get no more than 7-8 hours sleep. I can function on 6, but I don't like it.

My sleep is crap lately. I may start taking ZMA again. I didn't notice much difference when I was taking it but now that I'm not I'm not sleeping as well it seems.

I required 9 hrs per night when I was 19, and I require 9 hrs per night now. I don't believe you need less as you get older, it's just that most people do less physical work as they get older.
Also, if you're finding that you're sleeping 10 hrs+ and still not feeling rested, you may either have sleep apnea or you may be depressed. Sleeping too much is a symptom of either of these conditions.

I'm sure ZMA has nothing to do with your sleep. That's a worthless nutrtitional supplement. You're wasting your money. Purchase some marijuana and smoke a small amount near bedtime.
