how do you skip rope like a boxer?

It seems its only boxers that skip with that much variety. I know how to jump up and down, but thats it. I dont even know the names of the different skips. So obviously i dont even know how to place my wrists or the motion of my arms with the transitions with the different skips. Can anyone explain some? Or if you know any vids with slow motion or instruction? Thanks.

I'd try the conditioning or standup forums man.

The key to jumping rope is practice, practice, and more practice.

But I'd start with 3x3 rounds because if you have bad shins skipping rope to much to soon can put alot of abuse on them.

Nice vid. Apparently Sugar Ray Robinson's jump rope routines were absolutely legendary which is why he had a brief career as a tapdancer when he was 'retired' for the first time.

man I used to hate doing jump rope cause I could never do it...now after 2 months I have been able to alternate feet and my footwork feels way lighter then before. I used to just jump with two feet at the same time.

I think practice just keep practicing and make sure you get a nice size rope dont get one too big or too small.

your hands should be slightly higher then your waist when rotating the rope. I think 9 feet rope is for 5'8 and below, and 10 foot rope is for 5'8 and up.
