I like to do curls and crunches to get my high kicks higher.

I also like to search the forum, but I avoid that at all costs.

Even worse would be to peruse some of the FAQs. I just plain won't do that one.

FAQ=Frequently Asked Questions. If more people used them there would be less B.S. to wade through to get new information...

Why are all Canadian's assholes?

my guess would be your form is the issue as it is with most people learning to kick, they don't pivot enough on their planted foot to allow them to kick high. Watch the brazil kick how to in the stiking forum FAQ for a good demonstration

Hey, we aren't all assholes, my blue-tinged Canucklehead friend. But Ashford sure is.

In the FAQ, there's a great link to an online stretching guide, complete with video. The website is called Tricks Tutorials. Ignore everything on the site except the flexibility section.

While technique has a lot to do with it, dynamic flexibility and neuromuscular control have a lot more to do with it. The first you do everyday, and the second comes with time.

It's just the principle. Someone went to a lot of work to compile all the information in an easy to access format, which covers most of the basic questions that get asked (almost) every day. It's as if you're starting your thread off with "Hey, guys, answer this question for me. I don't feel like actually putting forth any effort into finding it out myself! Thanks!" which just puts a sour taste in some (myself included, obviously) people's mouths.

It does feel good to vent a little sometimes, though, so it's not entirely altruistic

Mike you're an asshole

Also wouldn't you say that tehcnique and muscular control are very closely related anyways? I think most people are capable of performing a high kick in regards to flexibility but it's the coordination and balance that they lack.

Have you got your blackbelt yet?
