High Altitude and Hypoxic Training

Anyone ever done any?

Anyone know anyone that does some?

I'm looking to do some to improve my endurance, maximal output and recovery time.

Any recommendations and suggestions would be welcomed

Thanks

THey say....sleeping in those oxygen tents that simulate hi alt do wonders. Supposed to be better than actually training in the altitude. Dont' have any personal experience though.

Go climb a non-technical mountain - what we refer to in my parts as scramblin'...

Good fun and a great work out. Plus nothing beats a lunch on a summit.

Does the Flames Boy handle refer to Calgary? If so you have a smorgasbord of peaks to choose from...especially since all that is left of the Red Mile is its pale blue imitation.

Get yer arse down to MEC and pick up a guide book and you are good to go!

Get some Oxydrene. It'll help a load with acclimation.

I've done some high altitude training and living. In fact, I just got back from a week of training at 6800 feet. I'm back at sea level now, and I can tell a huge difference and have every time I've done it. Scrambling up and down mountains is awesome for your cardio too. In addition to this, I've also done gas mask runs semi-regularly in the past, and those make a huge difference even though it sucks balls to do them. It's sort of like breathing through a straw, so every step and breath becomes exponentially more difficult, but the results are worth it.

Just got back from sea level to the Mile High (Boulder actually) and it was like an all you can breathe O2 buffet while we were in Mexico.

I've heard that training with MORE O2 actually helps more than training with less. You can push your limits a lot more and force extra muscle contractions that you couldn't before.

One group trained in one of the really deep diamond mines in Africa (South Africa, I think) and had incredible results, but I don't have the documentation.
