help with my Cardio problems?

First off let me just say I have an Ectomorphic body type, so I'm a tall lanky guy... Anyways I started running last Monday.. and couldn't even finish 1 mile.. next day I hit 1 mile in 12 min.. and tonight i hit 3 miles in 30 min without any hard breathing whatsoever.

The problem is today when I was running around 28-30 min My legs get stressed too much and I can't go anymore even though my upper body is telling me keep going.. I was thinking a weighted vest but wouldn't this just put more weight on my legs? I haven't had a break all week maybe this is it? or improper stretching? Any help? Thanks

You have to ease into running. You're not giving your muscles, joints and ligaments the time to adapt to this new stress.

I would start taking a day in between your running, and slowly reduce your rest until you're going every day. But be sure to have a day off in the week.

Maybe you should try biking, it is easier on your joints and I think it is better for you, try not to do it everyday, your muscles need to recover, also don't forget to stretch before and after.
Hope this is helpfull.

Shotokan pretty much summed it up. If you still have problems I would visit a running store and get a decent pair of shoes that match the way you run.

If you are planning on running regularly and are out of shape. IMO you HAVE to have a nice pair of running shoes. It's like walking on air and makes such a huge difference. You will not regret it!

Err...cardio is not just running.

Have you tried an elliptical machine or a stair master?

no but it is a huge part of cardio. i find my cardio lacks the most when i leave running out of my routine. now im not going to argue whats better sprints or longer runs. because i think its all good and you should try and do a mix of everything. but i see to many people totally leaving running out of there routine.

the reason is because people are afraid of road work. just like the guys at the gym that only do arms and upper body lifting. it's human nature to take the easy road. and id take running over the eliptical any day. yet i do use the eliptical a couple times a week because its good to. imo nothing can replace running works the heart and lungs like nothing else
