Group Conditioning (slightly long post)
Hi guys,
First off just wanted to say this is a great site! Heaps of info available, have already learned a lot since signup (which wasn't long ago at all!).
I've been training martial arts with my current discipline for about a year. I guess you could call it close quarters combat. It's very much street oriented, and a lot of the training is reality based. I train with a lot of police officers and military dudes.
We cover a whole lot of hand to hand stuff, as well as a few various weaponry. We also cover muay thai and ground work, however the ground work is fairly basic (nothing on the scale of BJJ). It's all designed to be used in the street rather than the ring, although we have a fair few people that want to enter comps (I guess that's the point of doing most of it).
The head bloke has been really impressed with my dedication and how quick i've been learning everything (I also did a two week training session with him - 14 hours a day for 2 weeks which really advanced my training), and has had me lead a few classes. So far so good.
He recently opened a new academy, and he's got me taking the conditioning/fitness classes there. I've led a few classes and so far its been great, but because I haven't got much experience under my belt I'm running out of good drills to do (and need to change it up, can't let it get too boring).
I'm just wondering if anyone had any tips and/or drills they could give a burgeoning trainer? I've been looking through the forums, and have already found a few, but the larger a selection of tools I have on hand the better I'll be as a trainer (which is my goal).
Thanks guys!
