Good Heart Monitor????

I'm looking to possibly start working on my cardio/recovery, and think a heart monitor would be a helpful tool. Anyone know a decent reasonable monitor?? I posted in Gear & Equipment, but didn't get any responses.

Yes get a Polar heart rate monitor. You don't have to go all out and get the top of the line you just need to figure out your heart rate zone and get a monitor that will tell you what your heart rate is at. They start around 50 dollars.

I got a Polar S-series monitor for around $70. Timex make some also, not too sure on the cost though.

I've use the low end Polar that is just a HRM with a hour:minute watch. Costs <$60 at the local sporting goods store. When I get another one, I will go to the lowest model that has a 'seconds' readout on the time as well. This way I can use the same piece for HRM on cardio work and to time rest intervals for lifting and such.

Polar is the way to go. Most gyms have equipement with Polar worked into them so you dont have to keep looking at your watch.

Its great for me b/c I use it for fat burning and targeting the fat burning zone is essential for me.

I just bought a Polar F11 yesterday. Haven't had a chance to use it yet obviously. My main motivation in buying one was to maximize my workouts to burn fat efficiently. Secondary is to build up cardio

Hard to go wrong with Polar. That being said, I have a couple of cheaper ones that I keep in my gym bag and car trunk that seem to be very close. The big thing is if you just want real-time information or if you want to begin analyzing your data.

As stated above, go with the Polar. No need to get one with all the bells and whisltes. One that keeps track of HR and past workouts is good enough.
