Gassed Out
So, last night I had an amateur fight for the IFBL in the LHW division. I took the fight on only a week and a half notice and didn't have time to train for it all. I was feeling pretty sick all day and vomited 4 times before the fight so that really didn't help matters much.
Anyway, I went in there and everything was going fine, first round I took it to the ground and had my opponent, who obviously had no groundgame at all, in full guard. I took a couple shots, real soft, no big deal, and I applied a neck crank. I ended up bucking the guy off and went back to standup.
when he shot in at me, he went straight into a guilliotine and I had it in deep and tight. I picked him up and backpeddled for a slam but we went through the cage door and out onto the floor. As we went out, his knee went into my groin and his shoulder in my gut, knocking the wind clean out of me. I also banged my head against the steps and split it open fairly well.
The guy ended up tapping while we were outside of the cage, which didn't count obviously and they stood us back up. That blow completely drained me. The whole second round I used up all my remaining energy on GnP as well as a couple submissions, my rear naked choke at the end of the round being broken by the bell. By the 3rd, I was tanked, had no energy left at all. I managed to lock in a toe hold but didn't have the fuel to finish it and basicaly passed out while the hold was still applied and the ref, who happened to be Forrest Petz, called the fight.
So basically, I need to start working on my cardio, A LOT. Take this as an example not to go into a fight without the juice to go the distance. This was my first fight that ever made it past the first round, I've never seen anything further until then. I now know how much the conditioning really plays apart in a fight, and because of it I suffered my first defeat

I'm actually a MW but the promoter told me she needed a LHW so I took the spot. I'm not one to back down from a fight, regardless of size or training, hell I've only been to a gym a total of 6 times,. Everything else I learned myself from, believe it or not, Youtube
I'm not disappointed that I lost, I went out there and did my best against a guy who's trained for 4yrs and held my own, I'm more than happy with my performance. I plan on fighting for the same organization in September, but this time at my normal weight of 185
I just hope that those who read this and are considering making their debut or whatnot, realize that cardio is something you have to have and not to expect a one round KO or submission

I've seen the cage door bust open i a few fights, I think (this could be complete BS, but I'll say it anyway) those are doors that have to get open quickly in case of a serious injury so medical personell can get in there and do their thing.

I heard Bas once saying that if you get a groin shot it takes almost all cardio from you, it's just gone. So I wouldn't worry too much about it, esp. if you took it on one week notice.

I don't train at an actual gym or anything, I'm self taught on everything. I pick things up from watching videos or what not, then I go out and get in a fight. Or I roll with my Sgt or something. Most of my jujitsu moves are the unrthadox stuff for the advanced guys that they don't teach the beginners. I just happen to have a lot of friends tht are pro fighters so they show me things every nw and then when they come over.
Anything else is strictly me. That's why I'm always happy win or lose, I don't train and I can hold my own with the guys that do
