Best running shoe?
I bought a pair of Nike shox but apparently I think that I made a mistake. My shins started to hurt and someone told me that this make of shoes suck. I run about 15 miles a week and I just wanted to get some feedback on what shoe worked for you. I understand that the best thing to do is to get your feet and the way that you run evaluated but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had a problem with Nike shox or if you know of any good running shoes. Thanks.

When I first started running I got shin splints and had other problems, but once my body got used to running I stopped having problems.
If you're just starting out it also helps to start out slowly with slow sessions for a while before you advance to speed intervals. That was one of my problems early on.

Im in the Marines and been running consistantly for about 10 years. I just never had shin splints and someone suggested that it could be the shoes. Thanks for the reply.

Many people swear by Asics. I have a mid-range pair and have no complaints, even when I occasionally must to take to the streets instead of the far smarter option of RUNning ON GRASS.

I have a pair of Asics specifically for running. If you plan on doing a fair bit of running, it's a wise investment. Then again, I've got a pair of shoes for lifting, for running, for hiking and for basketball.
Goddamn, I'm a woman.

New Balance, and sometimes Saucony, are the only two brands of shoes that work well with me. Anything else doesn't support my foot enough and I get terrible shin splints. I'd run on grass all the time if I could, but I just can't. A shoe that provides ample support is needed for me, hence the good ol' new balance.

It's got to be the shoes. I know people who have the Nike Shox and love them, but they may not be right for your feet depending on how you pronate. Below is a link that describes the differences. Not every shoe is right for every person.

HAHa, I hear ya man.
I got my steel toes, my DC skate shoes, my runners, my sandals etc, I look at my entrance and think "Jesus, when did a chick move in here?"
Whatever though, proper shoes/boots are essential, and to make up for the lack of machismo that a large collection of footwear may entail, I just don't shave. Ever.

Dude, I didn't even get into my other shoes, those are only my "exercise" shoes.
2 different sandals, 2 sneakers, 3 casual work shoes, 2 dress shoes and a pair of fuzzy slippers for when I take candlelit baths to shave my legs because I'm a FUCKING WOMAN. I hate myself.

That actually made me laugh.
Thanks.
