Getting kicked in the ribs

Ok, the other day I got a roundhouse to the mid section where my ribs would be and it hurt quite bad. Was just wondering what kind of exercises I could do to strengthen that area?

Catalogue of Core/Abdominal/Oblique Exercises

Rotational movements might be your best bet. Ain't nothing gonna make ribcage trauma a pleasant experience, save perhaps aforementioned fat.
