Foot falling asleep while running?

Tried the search engine to no avail. Does anyone have a problem with one foot (or both feet) falling asleep when running? I can't imagine it's a good thing, but I am now to the point in my running program that I am running 10 min. and briskly walking 5, then repeating for 30 min. total. After the 2nd 10 minutes my left foot is asleep. I've tried loosening and tightening the shoe, to no avail.

Any ideas? I'm using the latest incarnation of running shoes I've used since 1998 with no problems (Asics 22xx series), but I did have quite a long layoff (hence the remedial running program). I can't imagine these shoes are so different that they are the problem, but it's the first time I've used this particular model, so you never know. All input is much appreciated.

it might be your shoes: the brand or you might be tying them too tight. Remember that feet swell a bit when they warm up.

I've had it happen a few times. I have the Asics Gel Kinsei. From my experience it just seems that I had the shoes too tight. Have you tried loosening them more at the bottom and middle of the laces instead of just the top?

that used to happen to me sometimes when i had a pair of shoes that were actually too narrow...i wasn't tying them too tight but the sides were just too narrow for my foot...i don't even have a particular wide foot it was just the shoes

Thanks, guys. I'll try loosening them toward the midfoot and toe and see if that helps. I did have them pretty snug to begin with, because I understand that having the foot shift back and forth is bad juju as well. I may be overcompensating.

If that doesn't work, I'll go get fitted for a new pair at Fleet Feet.

could be the shoe. if you change and the problem persists, no shit here, go see a chiropractor. Sometimes an alignment can alleviate alot of lower leg, as well as many other, problems

I have the Asics gels as well, and I find my left foot falls asleep sometimes. I didn't really think about it because I weight 250 and it usually happens about an hour into the run.

I'll assume it's just too tight in the midfoot until I try it again. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Thanks again.

I had the same problem. Changed shoes and the problem was gone.
