Fight in 3 Weeks

Ok, I've got probably a fight in 3 weeks, kyokushin, 3x2min

What should I do for my conditioning? I do Mo-We Boxing and Thu/Fr Kyokushin. And how long before the fight should I rest and such things?

Please help a beginner, it's my first fight

Just make sure you simmer things down training wise, in plenty of time before your fight.

Once you've hit your cardio hard for the main part of your 3 weeks build up, you can lay of for 3 or 4 days before your fight, your trying to peak here, not burn out. When I say lay of, I don't mean sit about, just work on technique and go through your Kyokushin (can't help you with that one)

As far as out right conditioning is concerned.... get some good shoes and hit the road!, through in some hills. 3x2 is not alot but it'll be high paced I bet! so train for that! then some!

Obviously specific work will be centred around your actual discipline so work something out for that, maybe 3x5min drills-1min rest/ 5x3min drills-1min rest etc

Kyokushin is quite full on isn't it?

Just remember that were just a fuckin planet lost in space, there's bigger things happening out there!! so treat it for what it's worth and relax in there. Good luck!!

true. true. but for those 6 minutes, none of the bigger things out there mean shit.

i've seen some kyokushin matches and they can get brutally fast-paced.

poseidon laid out some great advice. almost the same pattern i used for my first MT smoker(i also had about three weeks to prepare). road work is key. try mixing in some sprints with your runs. and be careful about overtraining, that can suck the fight right out of you.

Mo fucking sprints.


50m, rest 7 seconds, repeat.

6-8 reps. 1 minute rest. Repeat for 3 sets.

Thanks a lot =)

I really don't want to run out of gas and lose because of that ^^

I still got a cold =( Should I wait until I'm fully recovered or can I start when it has gotten better? I don't have alot of time left I know =(

Ross workouts for conditioning of primarily the anerobic energy systems. That's all you'll need for 2min rounds.

You might want to do some heavy lifting, but we're talking about nervous system adaptation only here.

Have at least a full day of rest from conditioning work and two days of rest from strength training before your fight.

I highly suggest you don't begin a heavy lifting program 3 weeks out from a fight.

^If he's totally new to lifting, no, but if he's experienced but just hasn't lifted in a few months, I say go for it.

Three weeks from a fight, and you don't know what to do.....Start praying your opponent is new to the sport too

Edit: Sry. That wasn't helpful. Your fight is very close. Train HARD for 2 weeks. Taper your workouts down nearing your fight, but don't sit around. Even the day before do something very light. Usually guys get their light workout from cutting weight (bike/treadmill/elliptical with suit on). Right now you should Shadowbox intensly or Spar for however long your fight is to see where you're at. You should workout twice a day for at least a week during your 2 weeks of hard training. Win or Lose; learn from this fight, and go in prepared next time. Good luck to you
