eccentric phase takes considerable additional energy.....it puts quite a bit more stress on the core, etc in order to lower the weight...

i am cool with whatever it ends up being. Just trying to clarify a few things.

I agree that weights should be posted as well. we all know it's bodyweight, but identifying that figure would be nice.

This is going to be such a bitch. I'm due to lift today anyway, so I'll bump my usual routine and throw this in there. I'm actually nervous and have no idea how I'll do. Fingers crossed, I'll post my results later.

Oh and I won't be doing Zercher! lol

40 @ 190lbs, sumo style.

My lower back has such a pump at the moment, it was certainly my limiting factor.

edit to note: upon 5 reps of doing it sumo style, I immediately regretted not going traditional, since I haven't pulled sumo in like a year. But I didn't want to start over, so...

46 reps in total, 150lps weight (conventional deadlift)
No gear was used (although a belt may have helped!)

Early on it was easy going but the longer the challenge went on the more strain my lower back was feeling. I reached about the 35 rep mark and my back was starting to ache badly. I managed to do another 11 to take the total to 46. I had about 20 seconds left on the clock but my back wouldn't allow me any more. I didn't know what to expect beforehand so I'm not too disappointed plus it was really cold (I do my lifting at home in my garage).

"You must use a barbell, olympic or standard. If you use standard plates you may elevate the bar to equal that of an olympic plates (distance below gripping are of bar is 8 inches)"

This is qoute from original post, I just need little clarification.
Standard plates must be elevated so that distance between floor and bottom of the barbell is 8 inches or 8.5 inches?
I am asking because 8.5 + 8.5 + 1 inch barbell=18 inch plate. Maybe he meant it by observing the plate 8 + 8 + 2 inch hole?

Two months in a row of a challenge I'm only going to get one point on.

Today, Sundays, are the Vale Tudo day at my new BJJ club so I probably won't do this challenge till tuesday. Unless I get really restless but I did RDL on friday so some common sense should be in order.

i should have a score posted next week tuesday
this may be ridiculously easy for me, my dead 1rm is 290 and I weigh 133
but then again last week was the first week I ever started doing conditioning outside of what we do in class, so we'll see

Sorry if it's not clear, i measured the distance under the gripping area of an olympic barbell with 45's was 8" so take that to mean if you were 8" tall you could walk under the bar where you would be holding it. If thats still not clear then let me know and i will try and take a picture or something to demonstrate.

Those are some big numbers for five minutes. You guys are savages. I did this once for 10 minutes and got about 45 reps, and my lower back felt like it was going to lock up it was so pumped. This challenge may inspire me to try and improve that number tomorrow.
